The Godfather
June 26th 2011 15:24
Meet Don Vito Corleone, known to his near and dear ones as the Godfather: an honest man, a benevolent man, a man who never forgets a favor: the most powerful mafia boss of the Cosa Nostra, a man with half the states high and mighty in his pocket and the other half scared stiff of his gunmen.
But times are changing and his young and aggressive son Sonny is keen to earn some respect for himself. When a narcotics dealer named Sollozzo is refused assistance by the Godfather, Sonny expresses his interest in the promising drug venture. A bad move. Sollozzo realizes that if the Godfather dies then Sonny will become head of the Corleone family and help his cause. Two gunmen are commissioned and they almost succeed, plunging the gangland scenario into a cold war just waiting to explode into a no-hold-barred family feud.
Meanwhile Vito's youngest son, a war hero, starts showing great potential for the family business and The Godfather is his coming-of-age story as he gets prepared to take charge of the family after the demise of his father and Sonny.
