The Black Swan (2010), starring Natalie Portman, is the story of an ambitious ballerina, Nina (Natalie Portman) and a full time mother's-obedient-girl who wants nothing more than to play the role of Swan Queen in a performance called Swan Lake--the season opener for her New York based company lead by artistic and reputed director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) and her dream comes true when Leroy suddenly decides to drop her rapidly aging lead girl Beth MacIntyre (Winona Ryder) in favor of the promising and hard working Nina.
Her role as the Swan Queen involves playing the double role of the graceful and pure White Swan and the lustful Black Swan. But whereas Nina as a dream caste for the White Swan, she simply cannot absorb or portray the character of the guile and tempting sensuality of the Black Swan and that is when she meets her nemesis-- a new dancer called Lily (Mila Kunis) who embodies the Black Swan with ease and selected as Nina's back up for the role of Swan Queen.
As the competition between the two girls intensifies they start indulging in a strange, twisted and surprisingly supportive friendship and Nina soon realizes that slowly she is moving over to the dark side of late night bars and one night stands to seducing Leroy for her roles. But can she check her desire to play the Black Swan on stage from actually making her the Black Swan in real life?
Movie Making of Black Swan
The movie making of the Black Swan is sensational to say the least. It only keeps the viewer at the age of his seat with its intense, fast paced and decidedly sinister narrative style (not mention the strongly completing background sore by) but is fascinating in its depiction of the strong sexual undercureents between Nina, Lily and Leroy, which is not only integral to the character of the Black Swan but also to the movie itself.

Scenes to Watch Out For in Black Swan
I am prepared to bet a tenner that if you watch The Black Swan alone, late I the night with the lights turned of then you will get goosebumps deserving of any decent horror film. Here’s a couple scenes that really grabbed my attention:
1. Nina is lying in the bath tub when she sees the face of Beth McIntyre (who has recently had an accident while leaving her farewell party) and drops of blood break the surface of the water momentarily turning it red.
For an entirely different reason the lesbian scene between Nina and Lily
2. (For an entirely different reason) the steamy lesbian scene between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis.
My Verdict on Black Swan
When I actually saw Black Swan I was disappointed because going into the movie I had high expectations of getting a full blooded thriller but Black Swan appeared more like a psychobabble to me. However, if you enjoy psychological thrillers then I doubt if you'll ever find a better movie than Black Swan.
