Assassination of a High School President : Movie Review
March 7th 2011 17:32
Something strange is going on at St. Donovan's High and matters come to a head when somebody steals the SAT answer sheets from the principles office. While the ex-military principle of Donovan's high Principle Kirkpattrick (Bruce Willis) has launched an investigation into the matter, a sophomore newspaper reporter Bobby Funke smells the opportunity of a lifetime to establish himself as a writer for the school paper and even earn some prestigious national level awards.
But rather unexpectedly, his investigation leads him to the popular and charismatic high school president Paul Moore as the prime suspect-- and sure enough the lost SAT answer scripts are found in his locker. Even the praises for his journalistic prowess is reverberating through the halls of Donovan's High and Bobby becomes an overnight hero, niggling doubts start creeping into his mind regarding the strength of the evidence he has against Paul Moore. And before he knows it he finds himself in a precarious position between a ring of drug peddlers and a jealous fellow reporter hellbent on revenge.
Movie Making of Assassination of a High School President
The movie making of Assassination of a High School President is rather simple and formulaic, but entertaining nonetheless. The narrative is fast and suspenseful and ideal for the light hearted thriller genre (where for once, madmen are not planning to take over the planet, thank God!).
My Verdict on Assassination of a High School President
Assanination of a High School President is an entertaining light weight thriller with a decent enough plot with just enough twists and turns to keep you hooked for the length of its (rather short) runtime. Not an exceptional movie, but give the director (Bret Simon) credit for recognizing the limitations and staying within them.
